This demonstrates how different numbers of different vehicles at varying speeds contribute to the hourly LEQ registered at varying distances from the centerline of the roadway and with different surfaces. How to use Hourly LEQThe screen defaults to the mix of vehicles shown in the image at left. Enter the numbers of each kind of vehicle in the boxes at the left of the screen. The adjoining boxes show the percentage of the traffic mix that vehicles of that type constitute. The total number of vehicles is shown at the bottom. Change speed and distance to centerline in the boxes provided, and select between hard and soft surfaces by clicking on the image of grass for soft, of brick for hard. Hourly LEQ appears in the large field at the lower right. Moving the cursors over one of the speaker icons at left brings up a histogram panel. Clicking on a speaker plays the associated sound at the Lmax level indicated. As the sound plays, it is tracked on the associated histogram image. |
